ABOUT US:
The
Greater Cedar Rapids Area Council on Youth
Leadership is a part of National Council on Youth
Leadership. Cedar Rapids is only one of many Youth
Salute Programs throughout the country. The Youth
Salute recognizes and applauds outstanding seniors
in high school for being tremendous leaders and
giving back in their communities. When Youth Salute
communities applaud the positive accomplishments of
their young men and women, they are building a
culture that encourages excellence.
In the
Spring of their junior year a select number of youth
leaders are nominated by faculty of their school or
members of the community. The criteria to earn a
nomination are for the student to have been elected
to a leadership position by their peers, have a 3.0
grade point average or above and be well involved in
school, community and religious organizations.
Following nominations each student leader will fill
out an application, including a list of involvements
and response to an essay. In addition to the
application, every student receives a personal
interview and attends the two-day leadership
seminar, followed by The Scholarship & Awards
Ceremony.
